BLOG: September Wrap-Up

What you may have missed... It was another busy month at the District Attorney’s Office. In addition to our work in court, members of the office participated in various community activities and furthered a number of causes and initiatives. Additionally, District Attorney Sutter had a very busy month in light of a disposition earlier this month against two climate change activists – reducing their criminal charges to civil charges. 

COMMUNITY AFFAIRS AND VOLUNTEERISM:
Staff provided a resource table, volunteered, marched and/or participated in the following September events…

  • 5th Annual Light the Way Walk for Suicide Education, Prevention & Training
  • 9/11 Victims and Veterans Stand Down & Fair in New Bedford
  • 25th Annual Recovery Month Celebration Day conducted by PAACA
  • Fall River Partnership for Success 2 to reduce Rx drug abuse
  • Strikes Against Suicide Bowling Benefit for Samaritans of Bristol County 
  • Community forum – “Marijuana: Addiction, Mental Health, and Policy”
  • Somerset Police/Fire Departments’ 10th Annual Public Safety Day 
  • 2nd Annual “A Day in My Shoes” Suicide Prevention and Awareness Walk 
  • Walk To End Alzheimer’s in New Bedford
