Arrest Made For New Bedford Murder; Arraignment Today

An arrest has been made for the Sunday night New Bedford stabbing murder of Emmanuel Fuentes, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III and New Bedford Police Chief Joseph Cordeiro announced. 

Jorge Arce, 37, of 172 Oak Street, Taunton, was arrested last night by a Massachusetts State Police Trooper on Route 24 in Bridgewater without incident.

The defendant will be arraigned on a charge of murder this morning in New Bedford District Court. 

At around 10:41 Sunday night, New Bedford Police received a 911 call regarding a man being stabbed outside of 357 Ashley Boulevard.  When first responders arrived they found the victim, a 22-year-old New Bedford man, bleeding profusely. The victim was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he died from his injuries around 11:40 pm.​

The arraignment will be handled by Assistant District Attorney Dennis Collins, the Chief of District Attorney Quinn’s Homicide Unit.
