Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to this office and members of the Acushnet Police Department are currently investigating the death of a three-year-old girl, who was killed Tuesday when the car her father was apparently repairing rolled onto her.

Acushnet Police received a 911 call to report the incident from the young girl’s father shortly before noon on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Victoria Varieur, of Acushnet.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the victim’s father was repairing his Ford Excursion on the driveway of his home at 13 Jean Street when the vehicle rolled down the driveway, and struck and killed Ms. Varieur.  The vehicle appears to have continued down the driveway and came to rest against another vehicle parked on the opposite side of Jean Street.

At this time no foul play is suspected. The investigation is ongoing.
