Jayden Smith, Wanted in Connection to July Homicide, Arrested Late Tonight

A 16-year-old Fall River man wanted in connection to the July 11th homicide of Jerrod Cohen was apprehended late this evening in Fall River, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.
Jayden Smith, indicted last month of charges of murder, carrying an illegal firearm and possession of a loaded illegal firearm, was arrested shortly before midnight Monday by members of the Fall River Police Department, the State Police Detective Unit assigned to District Attorney Quinn’s office and the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.
The defendant has been wanted by authorities since shortly after the shooting death of Mr. Cohen outside the victim’s 129 Plain Street, Fall River, home. He was ranked #1 on the Fall River Police Department’s Most Wanted List and was recently added to the Massachusetts State Police’ Most Wanted List.
The defendant will be arraigned Tuesday morning in Fall River Superior Court. Assistant District Attorney Brian Griffin will handle the arraignment.
