Fatal One Car Motor Vehicle Crash in Fall River Under Investigation

Fall River Police, various units of the Massachusetts State Police and prosecutors from this office, are investigating a fatal one car crash, which occurred earlier this evening on Route 24 in Fall River.

A 2003 Ford Explorer being driven by Hannah Raposo, 18, of Fall River, flipped over several times while traveling southbound on Route 24 about three miles from the Route 195 interchange tonight around 6 p.m.

Ms. Raposo was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital tonight. The sole passenger of the vehicle, an 18-year-old Fall River man, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of minor to moderate injuries.

The two occupants of the vehicle were apparently headed to their BMC Durfee High School prom at White’s of Westport at the time of the crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The fatal crash is being actively investigated and no further information is available to disseminate at this time.
