Fall River Woman Indicted in Connection to 2020 Homicide Apprehended

A 30-year-old Fall River woman indicted late last month for her role in the January 2020 homicide of Jorge Vieira was apprehended in Fall River yesterday, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.
Jessica Brophy, who was already wanted by the Fall River District Court for violating the terms of her probation, was indicted by a Bristol County Grand Jury on January 26, 2023 on a charge of Accessory After the Fact. Arrest warrants were issued on both matters.
After being apprehended yesterday by Fall River Police, the defendant was first arraigned in Fall River Superior Court on the Accessory indictment and bail was set by Judge Sharon Donatelle at $5,000 cash. She is due to appear for a pretrial hearing on this indictment on March 29th.
In this case, the defendant is accused of disposing of the weapon used in the homicide, cleaning up evidence, hiding bloody clothes and assisting Nathan Silva elude capture for the fatal stabbing. Silva was convicted last month of Voluntary Manslaughter and is currently serving a 13 to 16 year state prison sentence.
After being arraigned in Superior Court yesterday, Brophy was then taken to Fall River District Court on the probation violation matter. In that case, the defendant was initially placed on three years probation in 2020 after being convicted of the obstruction of justice portion of the witness intimidation statute for misleading and obstruction the investigation into the stabbing homicide of Jorge Vieira. She is alleged to have violated the terms of her probation multiple times during the past two years by not showing up to meet with her probation officer in person or by phone, failure to comply with substance abuse testing requirements and for failing to complete programs ordered by the court at the time of her probation sentence. Fall River District Court Judge Daniel Pino yesterday held her without bail on her probation violation warrants and scheduled a probation violation hearing for March 21st.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Shawn Guilderson, who also coordinated the investigation into the Vieira homicide.
