Fall River Murder Defendant Held Without Bail

Heavenly Arroyo, 15, was formally arraigned this afternoon in Fall River District Court on a single charge of Murder and was ordered held without bail. The defendant, who is believed to have been living in Fall River for the past two weeks and is formerly of Rochester, NY, is due back in court on October 15 for a status conference.
Fall River Police, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to this office and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating the homicide, which occurred in the City of Fall River on Sunday.
At around 5:02 pm, Fall River Police responded to 220 Johnson Street, Apartment 59F, for a reported medical emergency. When police and rescue personnel arrived on scene, they located a 68-year-old female, later identified as Ana Vazquez, on the second level of the residence. The victim was suffering from multiple stab wounds and was rushed to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The defendant, who had recently been living in the residence with the victim and her grandson, was taken into custody last night and was formally charged with murder early this morning.
