Fall River Police, Massachusetts State Police and prosecutors from this office are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash which occurred in the City of Fall River this morning.
Fall River Police received a 911 call this morning around 6 a.m. regarding a crash involving a motorcycle and a box truck in the area of 2345 Highland Avenue. When first responders arrived, they located the severely injured driver of the motorcycle and rushed him to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 7 a.m..
The victim’s next of kin has been notified and he can now be publicly identified as Christopher P. Mills, 29, of Taunton.
A preliminary accident reconstruction analysis indicates that the motorcycle was traveling north on Highland Avenue when the box truck, which was traveling south on Highland Avenue, began to turn onto Courtney Street. The motorcycle then attempted to stop, creating a 25 to 30 yard skid mark prior to striking the passenger side of the box truck. This information is only preliminary and a more extensive investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The male operator of the box truck was not injured during the incident. No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation remains open. Once more information can be released, this office will send out a follow up media advisory.
