Press Release

August 28, 2017

A 35-year-old former Mansfield man was sentenced to serve 15 years in state prison after being convicted last week of child rape and dissemination of child pornography, District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.

William Koury pleaded guilty last week in Fall River Superior Court to a multi-count indictment charging with five counts of possessing child pornography, and one count each of disseminating child pornography, rape of a child (aggravated by age), rape of a child, and indecent assault and battery on a person under 14.

The defendant was arrested in December, 2012 after an undercover investigation into the sharing of child pornography by Massachusetts State Police.  A State Trooper at the time connected to a computer and was able to download a video montage of  2 to 4 year old female children being orally, anally and vaginally raped. Troopers were able to then trace the target IP address back to the defendant.

A search warrant was executed at the defendant’s home, and child pornography was found on several devices, including a laptop, thumb drives, CDs and cameras. Upon further review, a Massachusetts State Police Trooper assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office found several images of child pornography that had been captured with the cameras seized from the defendant. The two children seen in the images on the defendant’s camera were later identified.

Both children were later interviewed. Although one of the girls would not make any disclosures, the second young girl revealed that the defendant had taken pictures of her and had put his fingers in her vagina numerous times.

In addition to the 15 year state prison term, Judge Thomas McGuire also sentenced the defendant to 10 years of supervised probation to commence upon his release from prison. Conditions of his probation include mandatory sex offender counseling, prohibited from residing in a home with minors, no unsupervised contact with children, no employment or volunteer work that puts him in contact with children, no contact with anyone involved in this criminal case, must submit to GPS monitoring, and no loitering or residing with 300 feet of a school.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Casey Smith.

The defendant was previously convicted in 2008 for indecent assault and battery on a person under 14 and was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in jail. He has no other criminal record.

“This convicted sex offender engaged in demented and perverted conduct. He is a danger to children and the community as a whole,” District Attorney Quinn said. “Hopefully this sentence will adequately protect the children of our community from this dangerous individual.”
