Homicide Investigation Underway in New Bedford

New Bedford Police, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to this office, and homicide unit prosecutors are actively investigating a homicide, which occurred Sunday night in The City of New Bedford.

New Bedford Police received several 911 calls regarding a female shooting victim  in the area of 9 Bedford Street last night around 10:10 p.m.

When first responders arrived on scene, they found the victim, 19-year-old Sabrina DaSilva laying in the parking lot of 9 Bedford Street suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, who resides in an apartment at 9 Bedford Street, was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The investigation is being coordinated by Assistant District Attorneys Carolyn Morrissette and Robert Digiantomaso.  The state Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of the victim’s body and an initial autopsy will be performed tomorrow.

As the investigation is active and ongoing, no further information about the case will be disseminated at this time.
