Fall River Man Who Robbed Two Convenience Stores Sentenced to State Prison

District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III today announced that a 21-year-old Fall River man who robbed two Spindle City convenience stores this past summer was sentenced to serve three to five years in state prison Wednesday afternoon in Fall River Superior Court.
Adam Peckham pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of unarmed robbery.
On July 13, 2015 at around 11:30 pm, Fall River Police were dispatched to the 7-11 on North Main Street for a report of a robbery. The female clerk at 7-11 told officers that while working the register, a white male with a blue puffy winter coat and red baseball cap came to the counter and said, “excuse me, you’re gonna have to empty register and give me all the money.” While the clerk was emptying the cash register, the male suspects told her not to call the police. After obtaining cash, the suspect fled north on North Main Street. After some investigation by police, the clerk and another individual inside the store both positively identified Mr. Peckham as the suspect.
Later that same night, at around 1 am on July 14th, Fall River Police were dispatched to Tedeschi’s on East Main Street for a report of a robbery. The male clerk at Tedeschi’s reported to police that an individual who matched the description of the 7-11 robbery suspect had cut in front of another customer, and demanded money and cigarettes. After the clerk complied and handed over cash and cigarettes, the suspect later identified as Mr. Peckham, fled east on Hamlet Street.
A rapid investigation by Fall River Police led them to locate Mr. Peckham and arrest him without incident.
On Wednesday, Mr. Peckham submitted an “unagreed plea” before Superior Court Judge Gregg Pasquale. Mr. Peckham’s defense argued for a two to four year prison sentence with some form of probation upon his release. Assistant District Attorney Jeanne Veenstra, however, argued that based upon Mr. Peckham’s extensive criminal record, he should be sentenced to serve four to six years in state prison.
After hearing arguments from both sides, Judge Pasquale sentenced Mr. Peckham to serve three to five years in state prison, to be followed by two years of probation upon his release. The special conditions of his probation will include required abstinence from drugs and alcohol with random screens, evaluation and treatment as deemed appropriate by the Probation Department. Mr. Peckham was also ordered to stay away from both convenience stores during the probationary term.

I am committed to vigorously prosecuting robberies occurring within our communities,” said District Attorney Quinn. “I also want to thank Fall River Police Chief Daniel Racine and the Fall River business community for working together to to help reduce robberies in the city.”
