New Bedford Man Charged in Connection to New Year’s Eve Homicide Investigation

A 22-year-old New Bedford man was arrested this morning in connection to the ongoing investigation into the December 31 homicide of Aaron Gant Jr. in New Bedford.
Aaron Bookman is being charged with the obstruction of justice portion of the state’s witness intimidation statute. He will be arraigned this morning in New Bedford District Court by Deputy Chief of the district attorney’s Homicide Unit, Assistant District Attorney Katie Rayburn, who has been coordinating the investigation into the homicide.
Mr. Bookman is the fourth individual to be charged in connection to this case. On January 6th, Chad Santos, 25; Kathleen Rivera, 24; and Lorena Rivera, 21, all of New Bedford, were each charged with the obstruction of justice portion of the state’s witness intimidation statute
As the homicide investigation remains extremely active and ongoing, no further information will be released at this time.
