One Man Arrested in Connection to Fall River Homicide Investigation; Victim Identified

An individual has been arrested in connection to the ongoing homicide investigation taking place in the City of Fall River.

Jeffrey Souza, 24, of 135 Mott Street, Fall River, is charged in Massachusetts with carrying an illegal firearm and carrying a loaded illegal firearm. He was arrested without incident by Newport, RI Police shortly before noon today. He is charged in Rhode Island with being a fugitive from justice.

The arrest came as a result of information developed by investigators with the Fall River Police Department’s Major Crimes and Uniform Divisions, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office and Homicide Unit prosecutors. This office is unable to comment further on Mr. Souza’s connection to the homicide investigation at this time due to the ongoing nature of the probe.

Mr. Souza will be arraigned in Newport County District Court Friday morning on the fugitive from justice charge. If Mr. Souza waives rendition during his appearance in Newport County District Court, he will then be transported back to Massachusetts to be arraigned on the illegal firearm charges either Friday or Monday.

Fall River Police (both the Major Crimes Division and Uniform Division), Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to this office and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating the homicide, which occurred in the City of Fall River during the overnight hours this morning.

Uniform Division officers from the Fall River Police Department responded to the intersection of Albert Street and Huard Street around 1:17 am today in regards to a male being shot. The victim, who has been identified as Kyle Brady, 28, of Fall River, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation remains extremely active and ongoing, and no further information can be disseminated about the case at this time.
