The 16-year-old girl who died as a result of last night’s four-vehicle crash on Route 195 in Seekonk can now be publicly identified as Gisella Carrier of New Bedford.
The preliminary investigation into the crash revealed that a 2019 Chevy Silverado pickup was traveling east on Route 195 in Seekonk at approximately 8 p.m. Upon passing Exit 1, the pickup truck, which was traveling in the middle lane, encountered slowing traffic ahead as a result of a car fire approximately one mile down the road.
The Silverado then collided into the rear of a 2001 Chrysler 300. The impact forced the Chrysler into the rear of a 2005 Acura TSX which was then pushed into the rear of a 2017 Lexus NX.
Ms. Carrier, who was the right rear passenger of the Chrysler, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced deceased soon after her arrival at the hospital. The two additional occupants of the Chrysler, the two occupants of the Silverado and the four occupants of the Acura were all transported by EMS to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The operator of the Lexus was not injured the collision.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police, the MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the MSP Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Bristol County.
