Easton Man Receives Consecutive Maximum District Court Jail Sentences for Indecent Assault and Domestic Abuse

A Taunton District Court trial jury last week convicted a 46-year-old Easton man of charges related to the indecent assault of a young male relative and the domestic abuse of his wife. The defendant, Randy Stone, was sentenced to consecutive maximum jail sentences, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.
After a two-day trial, the jury deliberated for about 90 minutes before convicting the defendant of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14, assault and battery of a family or household member and assault and battery. At the recommendation of Assistant District Attorney Matthew Lopes, who prosecuted the case, Judge Michael Brennan sentenced the defendant to serve consecutive two-and-a-half-year jail sentences and placed the defendant on supervised probation for an additional five years. The two-and-a-half year jail sentences are the maximum sentences allowed in the district court. The defendant will serve five years in jail on the charges he was convicted of, but he will not begin serving those sentences until he serves another 10 months in jail for violating the terms of his probation from a 2017 conviction for violating a restraining order.
The indecent assault victim testified at trial that in the spring of 2012, the defendant guided the young boy into a bedroom and put his hand down the victim’s shorts to fondle his testicles. The male victim and the defendant’s wife also testified that the defendant was abusive towards his wife and that this abuse occurred regularly. On two separate occasions, the young male victim attempted to intervene during the domestic abuse of the defendant’s wife/ On both occasions the defendant struck the boy, once in the stomach and once in the face. In April of 2016, Easton Police responded to the residence and arrested the father. Then, in early 2018, while the defendant was incarcerated, the male victim disclosed the previous sexual molestation. The male victim testified that he was afraid of the defendant and that the defendant had told him if he ever told about the domestic abuse, he would kill the boy and the wife.
“I am very pleased the jury held the defendant accountable for abusing his young relative and wife. The evidence showed that the defendant abused and intimidated the victims,” District Attorney Quinn said. “He clearly was a menace to his own family and deserves the sentences imposed by the court. I hope the victims can have some sense of security now that the defendant will be incarcerated for the next six years.”
