A 57-year-old Easton man was arrested Friday and charged in connection with an October shooting, which occurred in the Plumber’s Shop of Stonehill College’s Clock Farm, across the street from the campus.
Dean A Tupper, who was an employee of Stonehill College at the time of the incident, was arrested at his residence without incident Friday afternoon on charges of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, making false statements to the police, improper storage of a firearm, carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon for his reckless handling of a firearm that resulted in the accidental shooting of another employee who was injured in the Plumber’s Shop on October 11th.
After an extensive investigation into the incident, State Police assigned to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn’s office filed an arrest warrant with the Taunton District Court Clerk’s Office Friday.
Mr. Tupper was released by a clerk magistrate this weekend on $1,000 cash bail. The defendant is expected to be arraigned on the charges Tuesday morning in Taunton District Court.
Since the defendant has yet to be formally arraigned, this office is unable to comment further on the facts of the case at this time.
