Homicide Investigation Underway in New Bedford

New Bedford Police, Massachusetts State Police Deceives assigned to this office and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating a homicide, which occurred in the City of New Bedford late this afternoon.

At around 6:22 pm, New Bedford Police were called to the area of Middle and Chancery Streets in regards to a reported stabbing incident involving three victims. One victim, a 15-year-old male from New Bedford, is deceased. The other two victims, both male teenagers, are being treated at area hospitals this evening for non-life threatening injuries.

The deceased victim’s identity is not being publicly released at this time pending next of kin notification.

 The investigation in being coordinated by First Assistant District Attorney Patrick O. Bomberg. The state Medical Examiner’s Office will take custody of the deceased to perform an autopsy.

 No one is charged in connection with the homicide at this time.

 No further information on the case can be released at this time, as the investigation is still in its early stages.
