Bristol County Alliance to End Opioid Crisis to Hold Annual Conference in Swansea November 7th

The Bristol County Alliance to End the Opioid Crisis will be holding its second annual Alliance Fall Conference on November 7th at the Venus de Milo in Swansea.


The half-day conference, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., will feature opening remarks from District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III and SouthCoast Health CEO Keith Hovan.  The keynote address will be given by Dr. Matilde Castile, the Commissioner of Health and Human Services for the City of Worcester.  Other presentations and workshop topics at the conference include:


  • Crystal Meth – An Overview and Update by DEA Resident Agent in Charge, Asa Morse
  • Re-Entry and Recidivism
  • De-prescribing
  • Vaping Risks
  • New Treatment Options
  • Harm Reduction-Best Practices


The Bristol County Alliance formally convened in November 2017 to bring resources to bear on the opioid crisis from throughout Bristol County. The Governance Board is Co-Chaired by District Attorney Thomas Quinn and Keith Hovan, CEO of Southcoast Health and includes representatives from the Attorney General’s Office, Bristol County Sheriff’s Office and leaders of local coalitions from around the County.  In addition to the Governance Board, there is a Development Committee responsible for the operational activity of the Alliance.


The Alliance’s mission is to  enhance regional communication, coordination and collaboration among diverse stakeholders to end the opioid crisis in Bristol County. The Alliance will bring all stakeholders from around the county together to make a collective impact on reducing fatal overdoses in Bristol County.
