May 16, 2019

Massachusetts State Police, Easton Police, West Bridgewater Police and prosecutors from this office are actively investigating a fatal crash, which occurred early this evening on Route 138 in Easton.

At 6:18 pm, Easton Police responded to the intersection of Route 138 and Purchase Street for a two-car motor vehicle crash.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that a Dodge Journey being operated by Sheri Vazquez, 33, of Easton, was traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 138 when her vehicle collided with another vehicle that was attempting to turn onto Purchase Street.

The second vehicle’s two occupants, a 79-year-old male and a 77-year-old female, have both died as a result of the collision.

After the collision, Sheri Vazquez, who was the sole occupant of the Dodge Journey, exited her vehicle and ran from the scene.  She was arrested a short time later just over the town line in West Bridgewater.

She is initially being charged with leaving the scene of personal injury and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, although more charges could be lodged against her.  The defendant has been transported to an area hospital for a well being check and should be arraigned tomorrow morning in Taunton District Court.

As the investigation remains active and ongoing at this time, no further information can be released this evening.
